Welcome!
Kia ora! I’m Fania Kapao, and I’m running for the Whau Local Board because this is my home. I grew up here, live and work here, and I want to give back to our communities. I have experienced the struggles and opportunities within this place, first hand. I care about protecting our environment, creating opportunities for rangatahi, and making sure everyone in Whau feels heard and included.
I’ve seen firsthand how important it is for young people to be included in local decisions — yet currently, there’s no dedicated youth voice on the board. About 26% of Whau’s population is under 30, and I want to make sure their ideas, concerns, and energy are represented.
I care about creating safe, green, and vibrant spaces for everyone, supporting local businesses, and helping young people access opportunities to learn, work, and lead in our communities. I want Whau to be a place where people feel proud to live, where every voice is heard, and where action matches our values.
Together, we can make Whau stronger, greener, and full of opportunity for all generations.
So, please read on and if what matters to me is something that matters to you, I’d really appreciate your vote and support this October.
